SKA Zeus Nest

SKA have introduced a new automatic nest called ‘Zeus', intended primarily for breeder flocks but highly suitable for all layers, to compliment their well established all galvanized steel ‘Avio' nests.

The nests are constructed in 2.40m long modules, each divided into four compartments with AstroTurf matting on the floors and integral doors to open and close access to the nests according to the settings selected on the time control.

The compartments are either 430 or 530mm deep and 1200mm wide for around 46 to 56 broiler breeder females, or 61 to 76 commercial layers at 120 per square metre.

Along with providing a particularly safe, comfortable and attractive environment for the birds, the design criteria concentrated upon simplifying the management and maintenance, and making the assembly quicker, easier and more economical.

Eggs roll from the nests onto a central perforated polypropylene belt for transportation into the packing and service area, using the thoroughly proven mechanics of the ‘Avio' nest.

The belt, with speed control, can terminate in a collecting table, with a photo electric cell to stop it when eggs reach the end, or it can transfer eggs onto a SKA ‘Convoy' conveyor which can carry them to a packer or table elsewhere on the site, with any changes in level and direction that are needed.

Available now in single tier layout and very soon in two tiers high, Zeus automatic nests are built to SKA's usual high quality and excellent value.
